Community News April 2019

Mayor, City Council, City’s administration and JVA Engineering Contractor, Inc., broke ground on the roadway project that will complete the connection between NW 41 Street and NW 90 Street and will help reduce congestion in the area by providing motorists an alternative to NW 107 Avenue and NW 97 Avenue. This new roadway will enhance connectivity for residents of the Atlantic, Neovita, Vintage, Mansions, Doral Palms, and Landmark communities and the parents that drop-off and pick-up students at the Doral International Academy of Math and Science. The road is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2019.

The City of Doral was recognized with the 2019 Safe Street Award – Complete Street Community Award. This award is given to local governments or organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach that have done an outstanding job engaging the community in planning for Complete Streets.

Congratulations to Doral Police Sergeant Luis Celis for being named Officer of the Year for his heroism and dedication during the active shooter incident at Trump Doral Resort last year. The Mayor and Council are proud to recognize him along with Toyota of North Miami who has generously given Sgt. Celis a Free 3-year lease of a 2019 Toyota Tacoma for being such an asset to the police force and keeping the community safe above all.

The westbound SR 836/Dolphin Expressway exit ramp to southbound NW 87th Ave. will be closed for ramp reconstruction. It will reopen in approximately summer of 2019.
